Teams voicemail and Microsoft’s phone system cloud voicemail are separate. In our case, we will be porting over our existing numbers. You can assign individual Microsoft telephone numbers to users or port over your existing phone numbers from your current provider. Users can log in to their phones using their Microsoft 365 account.

The phones are Android OS based and pretty much have Teams app installed. We got the Yealink T56A phones for our test environment. It has to be certified and compatible for use with Teams. As far as desk phones go, there are a bunch of certified Microsoft phones available to choose from. We don’t have a complex phone system structure, a main telephone number which the auto attendant picks up and routes the call DIDs which rings directly on each user’s desk phone. The phone system’s main console is driven within the Teams Admin console. We used their online guides to go through the whole configuration process.

It includes a domestic calling plan with 3,000 mins per user, per month. A paid license subscription goes for $15/month per user.

We ended up not using it because we were considered an essential company so we were allowed to return and restore full operations in our office as early as June 2020.įast forward to Jan 2021, with the increased usage of Microsoft Teams and making it a primary source of internal communications, we decided to take it one step further by adding Microsoft 365 Business Voice (also referred to as their cloud-based phone system).
